Rachels’ beautiful gift

I was wrong when I said a donation to charity is technically not a gift. Rachel Beckwith taught me that.

Rachel’s’ gift to 60,000 people

Rachel  was 9. She had a wish.

She wanted to raise $ 300 for charity so 15 people could get clean drinking water.

And then she died in a car accident. Her wish did not.

People heard about her wish, raising over $ 1.2 million in her honour.

60,000 people in Ethiopia now have clean water.

One of her benefactors said, “To give up your birthday presents so that other children can improve their lives, is the most beautiful gift a person can give.”

This was Rachel’s beautiful gift.

Visit Rachel’s mother, Samantha’s current fundraising campaign, in her honour.
